A rumination on what it is like to live and work in the savannahs of South Africa (which obviously has very little to do with the title).
Now we're down to the last minute craziness. Packing, re-packing, and having mild panic attacks wondering what in the world I've gotten myself into going half-way across the world to live in a tent and chase animals around the bush. I CAN'T WAIT!

I'm a coral reef ecologist by training but am now heading to South Africa to study herbivorous terretrial megafauna (big animals that live on land and eat plants). The name of my blog comes from a friend of mine who after hearing that I was living underwater in the world's only undersea research station said "You are my underwater superhero friend".
